- Interior bonding — suitable for dry indoor furniture, the most economical option.
- MR (moisture resistant) bonding — for humid interiors, kitchens and bathrooms; corresponds to the humid-service classes of EN 314-2 / EN 636 systems.
- WBP (weather and boil proof) bonding — for exterior or high-humidity exposure and the most demanding service classes.

Grade Terminology Buyers Should Expect
Export documentation normally distinguishes face grade (the visible decorated side), back grade (the concealed side, sometimes a lower decoration or an uncoated face), and core grade. A panel described as "double-faced" carries melamine on both sides; a "single-face" panel is decorated on one side only and is used where one face is never seen. The distinction affects price significantly and should always be stated in the quotation.
Choosing Between Them
For dry interior furniture at the lowest cost, a poplar core with interior bonding is adequate. For kitchens, bathrooms and any market with high ambient humidity, move up to a eucalyptus or hardwood core with moisture resistant bonding — this is the single most effective upgrade in the specification. For shelves carrying heavy loads, or for commercial and retail fit-out, a denser birch or high-density hardwood core is the appropriate base. Matching the core to the service condition prevents both over-specification and premature failure.
